Two-Factor Authentication
Secure your nRouter account with two-factor authentication (2FA). Configure TOTP authenticator apps like Google Authenticator or 1Password for login safety.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) secures your nRouter account by requiring a time-based one-time password (TOTP) from an authenticator app or backup recovery codes during sign-in across Pay as you go and Enterprise plans. Enforcing 2FA prevents unauthorized account and API access even if primary login credentials or passwords are compromised, following TOTP (RFC 6238) standards.
Setup & enforcement
- Enrollment: In Settings → Security, select Enroll factor, scan the QR code with any TOTP app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy), confirm the 6-digit code, and save your backup recovery codes securely.
- Sign-in: Enter your password, then provide your 30-second TOTP code or a single-use recovery code.
- Enterprise enforcement: Admins can mandate 2FA workspace-wide in Security Settings.
- Note: Authenticator app TOTP is independent of SMS phone verification.
